The ash box door is placed under the
heater-door and provides the air regulation for the wood fire.
During the burning of the wood in the masonry heater the ash box
door is opened. After the flames have died it is closed again. The
ash box inside the heater can be reached through the ash box door. |

On the
photo you can see that the ash box door of this austere adobe-heater
is opened while making a fire. The austere style of the ash box door
fits with the style of the heater-door. |
